    PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Provides free education at 10 schools in Somerset County for students of all abilities in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade as well as a vocational-technical high school and summer school. Up-to-date computer technology is available to students.

    -Student Services: Staff members addresses issues through prevention and intervention to help students overcome learning challenges and to achieve higher academic levels. Offers Psychologists, guidance counselors and pupil personnel workers offer emotional and educational guidance counseling and psychological testing and services.

    -American Education Week 2020: During the month of November, parents are welcomed to visit the school and participate along with child in special activities and speak to the teachers in reference to their child's academic performance.

    -Special Education: Provides an appropriate education plan for children from birth to age 21 who are in need of special services because of cognitive, emotional or physical limitations. Tutoring and job search assistance available.

    -Home/Hospital Instruction: Available to students who are unable to attend school due to physical or emotional problems.

    -Adult Education: Classes and seminars on GED preparation, adult basic education (ABE), English as Second Language (ESOL), vocational/technical skills, business, creative arts, physical fitness, law officer certification and real estate licensing are offered to students ages 16 and up. Classes are held in various community centers throughout the county. GED, ABE and ESOL classes are free; other courses have nominal fees.

    -School Meals: Provides free breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost during the school year.

    -Summer Food Service Program: Offers free breakfast and or lunch to school aged kids under the age of 18 during the summer months. There are random sites throughout the county, for a listing of local sites go to www.msde.state.md.us for more information.

    -Homeless Children: Parents who are homeless should contact their Homeless Education Liaison to assist their child in attaining proper support and education.

    -Naviance: Offers a college and career readiness program for grades 6-11. Also provides a web-based that will assist students with connecting academic achievements to their post-secondary plans.

    -Somerset County Technical High School: Provides a variety of programs where students can build basic skills in a chosen career field  that will allow them to gain entry level job related to their program of choice.
