    Agency: Queen Anne's County Public Schools

    PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Provides free education for students of all abilities in kindergarten through 12th grade. Has responsibility for curriculum and staff development. Offers vocational education for high school students. Pre-K is offered in some schools.

    -Adult Education: Offers continuing education classes for persons ages 16 and over. Includes ABE, GED preparation, ESL and a variety of non-credit general interest courses. Some fees may apply.

    -ESOL: Offers English language instruction to non-English speaking students enrolled in the county's school. There are 15 languages represented that include Spanish, Hindi, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese.

    -Special Education: Provides appropriate education for children from birth to age 21 in need of special services because of cognitive, emotional or physical disabilities. After assessment, students attend special classes for part or all of school day, as needed.

    -Service Learning: Students in grades 6-12 must earn service learning credits  prior to graduating. Students apply what they've learned in school to the real world by working in the community.

    -Student Support Services: Offers guidance counseling and pupil assistance to students who have personal, career concerns, or significant problems in attendance, achievement or behavior.

    -Drug & Alcohol Prevention: Offers school and community based partnerships that works towards reducing individual risks for substance abuse among local youth.

    -Food Services: Offers free or reduced fee breakfast and lunch programs to students who qualify. The income guidelines are set by the federal government and have been adopted across the state.
