    CORONAVIRUS UPDATES: A turn off notice is no longer required through 12/31/2020, regardless of what the State or utility providers decide to do. Clients over the age of 60 DO NOT have to apply for Energy Assistance from the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) before applying for the Fuel Fund. Clients under the age of 60 still need to apply for Energy Assistance and receive notification of approval or denial before applying for the Fuel Fund. The Fuel Fund has adjusted requirements for clients who are already on a payment plan with BG & E, call for more information. Apply to the Fuel Fund at https://fuelfundmaryland.org/apply. For phone applications call 410-235-9080 option 1 Mon, Wed and Fri, 10AM – 12PM. Clients can check the status of an application or send a message to the Fuel Fund at https://fuelfundmaryland.org/application-status.

    Bulk Fuel Information:

    Clients must complete the application for OHEP before applying to Fuel Fund of Maryland. Clients must have an account set up with a bulk fuel vendor and ensure the MEAP payment will go to them. If clients are over income, they should still apply to OHEP and Fuel Fund of Maryland. 

    Fuel Fund of Maryland does not help with past due bulk fuel bills. They help with a one-time emergency purchase of 100 gallons of oil, kerosene, propane, wood pellets, etc. Fuel Fund of Maryland will work with client's bulk fuel provider to get client needed fuel.

    UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE: Assist households with BG&E bills. Also, assist with bulk fuel costs Nov 1-Mar 31. Bulk fuel assistance includes oil, propane, kerosene, wood pellets, and other types of bulk fuel. Households that use fuel for cooking may receive assistance year-round. Apply at https://fuelfundmaryland.org/apply. For phone applications call 410-235-9080, option 1 Mon, Wed and Fri, 10AM-12Noon. Processing time for households whose utility service is disconnected and for bulk fuel customers is 24 hours. Processing time for all other applications is 72 hours. 

    To report a payment on an active case, reply to the email sent with payment information or go to: https://fuelfundmaryland.org/application-status and send fuel fund a message.. The Fuel Fund will assist each household with BGE bill or bulk fuel costs once every 12 months. Does not assist with re-lighting costs. Individuals seeking assistance with propane or heating oil must provide the name of the propane or heating oil provider and the account number.
