OVERVIEW: Administers government funded social programs.
1) CHILD CARE SERVICES: Offered at the CCDCS building. Children ages 0-5 can stay all day. During school months, a before and after school program for children ages 6-12 is offered at all 21 county elementary schools and at the CCDCS building
2) HOUSING SERVICES: Administers the following housing assistance programs:
--Housing Choice Voucher Program: Helps low-income families, elderly, and handicapped persons afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing. The housing voucher represents the difference between an average monthly rent for a particular area and at least 30% of a family's monthly income. Housing voucher program is currently closed and is not anticipated to open before 2019.
--Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program (MHRP): Provides loans to low and moderate income families to rehabilitate their dwelling units.
--Indoor Plumbing Program (IPP): Designed to provide low-interest, no-interest, or deferred loans for wells, conventional septic or other on-site sewerage systems, indoor pipes and equipment and connections to community water and sewage systems. To be eligible, properties must have no indoor plumbing or have an existing system which is failing but structurally sound.
